This is usually where Choo Choo Aquatics & Leisure Time divers meet up for the TN River Rescue cleanup. Visibility is pretty bad here at the dam usually and if you want to get some time adapting to very low visibility this is a good chance to do so. This event is a great chance to meet new friends/divers and help clean up the river. 2 years ago we filled up a huge trailer with trash (bottles, cans, piping, and so many random fun items). The dive shops give t-shirts and other prizes for different catagories like MOST TRASH & ODDEST ITEM. I think a scary baby doll won it that year.

McNair - 7/01/2013 6:53 AM Rating Added: 2 Diving here is for a good cause, cleaning up the river. So don’t expect to see fish. Actually I wasn’t able to see ANYTHING once a few people stir up the nasty bottom vis is almost ZERO. I actually closed my eyes and felt for trash at one point. To keep track of your buddy we had to tie a small piece of rope between us conncting our pinky fingers. This however is very good practice for diving low visibility. It will make you a better diver. We all had fun on the dive in the end.
