here is how sunday went.....we arrived at the loading docks in the Chippawa river, the current was faster than last weekend. the vis was about ten feet if that? I thought that we would get down to the bottom and check our bouyancy ..Not happening, we were swept away by the current right away for an hour going at a pretty good speed, about every ten minuets or so all eight of us would start bumping into one another like bumper cars but only divers. There were two cars, lots of cray fish,I think Fernendez got caught up in some sticks, and nothing but fricken zebra shells on the bottom . Twenty minuets left of our drift I ran out of air and had to use my buddys octo, a very uneasy moment concidering that I had the damed thing upside down and some water started to come in when I inhaled, but then I corrected it . one more dive closer to my advanced

Wow. Pretty wild drift dive. Can’t imagine diving in 10’ vis. As for myself, I’ll start my safety stop between 700-800 psi and finish with 500 psi left. If you consistently run out of air, you should recalculate your dive plan and when you start your stop.

There’s a company here in Guam where they ask for your total bottom time, depth, and air remaining. If you surface with less than 300 psi on your first dive, you are NOT diving the second dive. They stress safe diving and I think that a little extra air in the tank won’t hurt. Just my opinion.
